SWAT PRACTICE GROUPS

 

PRE-FIN  

The Pre-Fin group is a bridge between swim lessons and the Fins group. These kids are usually not quite ready for competition and often need a little extra help and supervision.  This group will practice in the same environment as the competitive team but with a lower commitment level.

 

 

FINS   

This is a beginner program designed to help young athletes get a solid base for competitive swimming. The emphasis in the FINS group is on stroke technique, training skills, and how to compete in a race. They must be able to swim 25 yards (1 length of the pool) unassisted.

 

 

WAVES  

This group is designed for swimmers who are working hard on skills and endurance. This group must be legal in both freestyle and backstroke. The emphasis in the WAVES group is the development of a more versatile swimmer who is skilled in all strokes at various distances. Time is spent on stroke, start and turn techniques, race strategy, and the endurance of training.

 

 

SHARKS  

This group is designed for swimmers who are more advanced in their skills and endurance. This group must be legal in both freestyle and backstroke as well as butterfly and breastroke. The emphasis in the SHARKS group is the development of a more versatile swimmer who is skilled in all strokes at various distances. Time is spent on stroke, start and turn techniques, race strategy, and the endurance of training.

 

 

 

SURGE  

This group is for the more serious swimmers who want to successfully compete in high school, regional, or state level competition. The emphasis in the SURGE group is a total swim training program, including, but not limited to, dry land training, nutrition, physiology, psychology, and fine tuning stroke techniques.

 

 

DART  

This group is made up of the elite swimmers of the club. The emphasis is much the same as Surge, but more intense and with more yardage. A total swim training program, including, but not limited to, dry land training, nutrition, physiology and psychology. The goal of the swimmers in this group should be to compete on a National and Collegiate level.
